Enhancing Cancer Care

Project Scope

The Grampians Integrated Cancer Service (GICS) works with clinicians, health services, consumers and associated stakeholders to drive improvements in cancer care systems and services.

Foresight Lane collaborated with the team over an eighteen month period to reimagine strategy, governance, operations, workforce models and consumer engagement mechanisms. The project incorporated a thorough mapping and examination of cancer service delivery in the region.

GICS established a renewed sense of purpose and the mechanisms by which stakeholders could contribute to the achievement of their shared vision. More specifically the project delivered a three year strategy, redesign of governance and corporate arrangements, regional cancer service plan, and the introduction of a stakeholder engagement framework. In addition to this GICS was able to:

  • Conduct consumer and provider Innovation Labs – six innovation experiments were developed and trialled
  • Obtain funding for a range of service initiatives, including a Cancer Resource Nurse
  • Review and redesign models of care for various tumour streams
  • Develop a business plan and model of care for a new regional chemotherapy service (in an underserviced part of the state)
  • Introduce a new data and information management framework
